It was fun on Saturday evening May 20, 2023 in Klaaswaal! Two top orchestras, Fanfare Orchestra De Hoop from Stellendam and Brassband Rijnmond, showed what they had to offer during this double concert.
Fanfare orchestra De Hoop, conducted by conductor Anne van den Berg, performed as a "try-out" the program that she will play on June 3, 2023 during a European concert competition in Luxembourg. The audience was spoiled with a beautifully balanced performance, including the compulsory work “Spectrum of the Sky” by Jan de Haan, and a beautiful fanfare sound. The public responded enthusiastically. In its current form, Fanfare Orchestra De Hoop will certainly do well in Luxembourg.
After the break it was up to Brassband Rijnmond to win over the audience. A wonderful performance was given under the direction of interim conductor Jeroen Schippers. The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly a composition by Paul Raphael, “Explorers on the Moon”. The piece is based on the comic strip "Tintin to the Moon". A beautiful composition that demanded the utmost from the band and conductor. Brass band Rijnmond more than succeeded in this and the audience enjoyed it to the fullest. The audience rewarded Brassband Rijnmond with thunderous applause. Afterwards, the fact that conductor Jeroen Schippers had rehearsed the program in a very skilful and pleasant manner in a short time was discussed. The band is grateful to Jeroen for his commitment and enthusiasm and looks back with pleasure on a memorable concert.
Brassband Rijnmond wishes Fanfareorkest De Hoop lots of fun and success during the 3rd European Music Competition in Luxembourg!
