In November 2023, Brassband Rijnmond, led by Luc Vertommen, won the Dutch Championships.

This means the band can represent the Netherlands at the European Brass Band Championships in Stavanger in 2025. Last January, Luc Vertommen became champion of France with Hauts-de-France (his other regular band). This means he has a luxury problem, as participating in the European Championships with two bands is not organizationally feasible. It was agreed in consultation that Luc Vertommen will conduct Hauts-de-France in Stavanger and that Brassband Rijnmond will be led there by Paul Holland. Luc will prepare Brassband Rijnmond for the championship, after which Paul Holland will take over for the championships.

Paul Holland is the conductor of Flowers Band, which plays in the Championships Section in England. Paul is no stranger to the Netherlands; he conducted the inaugural course with the National Youth Band (which included a number of players of Brassband Rijnmond) and continues his project based work with Brass Band Schoonhoven.
