Last week Brassband Rijnmond appointed Chris Derikx as new conductor.
After two successful trial periods, Brassband Rijnmond has chosen a new conductor. During the first trial period, the band was led by Chris Derikx. Chris conducted the band in preparation for and during the Dutch Brass Band Championships at the end of October in TivoliVredenburg. The band reached a nice third place. The second trial period was led by Ivan Meylemans. He led the band during the busy Brass Connections. Unfortunately, his busy schedule and availability made us decide not to collaborate on a regular basis. The band thanks Ivan Meylemans for a very nice and educational period.
During a special members meeting, brass band Rijnmond decided to appoint Chris Derikx as new conductor. The choice of Chris is based on the principles that were drawn up by the band prior to the procedure. Chris is the best match for these principles and we are pleased to have found an extremely suitable candidate in his position to succeed Erik van de Kolk. Chris will start on April 1 and prepare the band for participating in the Dutch Open Brass Band Championships.
