Danieke Faber passed with flying colors!

Brass band Rijnmond proud! With a beautifully performed recital, Danieke successfully completed her bachelor's exam in euphonium at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.

The performance started with Franz Schubert's “Auf dem Strom”. This work, originally composed for French horn, soprano and piano, has been arranged by Danieke for euphonium, mezzo-soprano and piano. The choice for and implementation of this innovative combination was highly appreciated by the Examination Board.

This refreshing performance was followed by “in (out of) Sync” by Balee Ponklad. A surprising duet, with oboe and piano accompaniment. Because the impression is created that the melody lines follow each other illogically, a virtuoso interplay arose.

Brassband Rijnmond then had the honor of accompanying Danieke. “In Garden of Piece”, written by Phillip Harper as a tribute to the fallen in the First World War, was performed by Danieke with great feeling and beautiful tone.

The recital ended with Phillip Willy's “Euphonium Concerto”. This solo with brass band accompaniment is a real challenge that demands a lot from the qualities of the soloist. With the gossamer technique, beautiful melodic lines that demand the utmost reach of the soloist and the instrument, Danieke has shown to deserve the title “Bachelor of Music”.
