Last Saturday, October 30, 2021 Brassband Rijnmond participated in the 40th anniversary edition of the Nationals in TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht.
After an excellent and thorough preparation and two successful try-out concerts, Brassband Rijnmond was completely ready. However, the result was not as hoped and expected. Under the inspiring leadership of conductor Chris Derikx, a good performance was achieved on stage. Unfortunately, beautiful moments were alternated with less successful moments. Our performance failed to convince the jury resulting in a place in the rear. Brassband Rijnmond has worked with great pleasure and satisfaction on the beautiful compulsory work “The World Rejoicing” by the English composer Edward Gregson, which had its world premiere in his presence yesterday and was highly appreciated by everyone.
The band is especially happy to have come from the Corona time with an almost complete, enthusiastic and motivated line-up and conductor and looks forward to the future with confidence. At the coming rehearsal, the band will enthusiastically work with the beautiful repertoire of Ramses Shaffy to pay a musical tribute to the well-known Flemish singer Micheline van Hautem and the renowned bass trombonist Jos Jansen on Saturday 20 November in Kantine Theater Walhalla in Rotterdam. one of the Netherlands' best-known chansonniers and life artists.
Brassband Rijnmond congratulates Soli Brass on achieving the championship title and the NBK foundation and all volunteers with the flawless organization of this beautiful event, under challenging circumstances!
We hope to welcome you again soon at Shaffy & Brass and the Christmas concerts in Maasland.
