On Sunday, April 14, 2024, Brassband Rijnmond was a guest at the first edition of the Brass in Deurne Festival in Deurne, Antwerp, Belgium.

A wonderful brass band afternoon was provided together with the Academic Brass and Festival Brass Band in the beautiful theater “De Klap”. A great initiative by Academy Deurne! It is not entirely coincidental that the Deurne Academy is led by director Luc Vertommen. The organization managed to invite two renowned brass bands from the Netherlands and Belgium to complete part of the program. Each band provided its own program where they could show what they had to offer and that was a lot.

World famous guest soloist Roger Webster soloed on cornet with each band and his performances were a delight for the large audience. With a beautiful sound and fabulous technique he amazed many listeners. In addition to a masterclass by cornet soloist Roger Webster for the brass students of the Deurne and Wilrijk Academies on Saturday, the festival concluded on Sunday with high-level brass music.

The enthusiastic audience gave Brassband Rijnmond, led by its home-based conductor Luc Vertommen, a big applause for its varied and inspired concert.

Brassband Rijnmond thanks the organization for the invitation and the initiative for this first edition of the Brass in Deurne Festival, which will undoubtedly be continued next year due to its great success.
