On Friday, September 12th, Brass Band Rijnmond opened its new band season by participating in the now-traditional Late Summer Singing at the Oude Kerk (Old Church) in Maasland.
Late Summer Singing is an initiative of Mart and Coby van Buuren, also the driving forces behind the Christmas carols in Maasland, and offers an evening of congregational singing interspersed with organ solos and swinging gospel music. The audience in the packed church gave it their all during the singing led by conductor Alan Gibson, accompanied alternately by band and organ. In between, Brass Band Rijnmond, led by Luc Vertommen, filled the church with beautiful brass band sounds with swinging classics like "Lightwalk," "Go Down Moses," "Let There Be Praise," and "Make His Praise Glorious."
The new season has kicked off, and the band is gearing up for a series of exciting events in the final quarter of this year. Brassband Rijnmond thanks Mart and Coby van Buuren and the organizing team for another wonderful Late Summer Singing and is already looking forward to the Christmas Singing on December 15th and 16th at the Oude Kerk in Maasland.
