This year, Brass Connections on Saturday, February 18, 2023 is all about the immeasurable space: “The Space Edition”.
The galaxy, the planets, space travel and the infinite have been the source of inspiration for countless composers for beautiful music. Brass band Rijnmond wants to take the audience on a journey through space with compositions inspired by these subjects. It is striking that many compositions by Gustav Holst, Philip Sparke, Paul Lovatt-Cooper and Jonathan Bates, among others, capture the atmosphere and phenomena of space so well, with eclipses, meteor showers, black holes, solar storms and the silence of the infinite vacuum. Space travel by brave astronauts also appeals to the imagination. Brass band Rijnmond will perform the spectacular moments of these journeys in music. We are also proud to welcome former member and, entirely in line with the theme, euphonium star Rodin Rosendahl as a guest soloist. Brass band Rijnmond is looking forward to going on a surprising, musical space journey together with the audience!
